BOARD CHAIR

 Teresa is Vice President of Diversity and Community Engagement at ABC7 and has helped grow the community affairs department and the Station’s involvement in the community for the past 40 years. As Vice President, she oversees community media initiatives and station partnerships. She works closely with many nonprofit organizations, corporations and advertising clients to develop and implement projects which benefit the viewers and the communities that the Station serves within the five-county coverage area.

Brian is the Executive Director of Ventura County Medical Association.  Formerly Chief of Staff for the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce in supporting the Board of Directors, and Chamber Team. 

Past President- Dale Carnegie Global Corporate Solutions, and

The National Human Resources Association Board of Directors.

Founded several start-ups, and honored for ground-breaking diversity & inclusion, and entrepreneurship.  Global Trainer of the Year, 9x Finalist. 6x Top for North America. Over 30 years of diversified international experience in performance improvement, curricula design, leading cross-functional teams in and numerous sectors.  

 Kelvin Washington is a Host and Anchor on Spectrum News 1 in Los Angeles. He covers everything that is important to the people of So Cal. He also is a contributor on the Spectrum News 1 show “LA Times Today” and is one of the Host of the Pre and Post game shows for the Dodgers on Sportsnet LA. You can also hear him nationally on Fox Sports Radio. Before joining Spectrum News 1, Kelvin hosted the prime time competition show “Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge” on NBC. He was also the host of the highly rated Afternoon drive Radio Show “Marcellus and Kelvin” on ESPN LA. His other TV work includes CNN, HLN and ESPN. His work illustrates his passion for telling stories in the hopes of uplifting others. Kelvin enjoys spending time with his Wife and their three young daughters! He also is a Board Member and mentor with the Kollab Youth, a non profit dedicated to helping young people in Southern California, achieve greatness!

Mitali is a Boston-based medical student and clinical researcher in spinal orthopedics, neuroanatomy, and otolaryngology laboratories. Her expertise lies in issues related to youth empowerment and education, mental health in adolescents, healthcare-associated pathways, and STEM encouragement for K-12 youth. 

She has personal experience mentoring adolescents interested in medicine and research to fast-track pathways as high school students with guaranteed medical school admission. Prior to this, she worked with her non-profit organization, Stand Up to Mental Stigma Inc. This organization worked hand-in-hand with the Greater Los Angeles community to bring pro-bono mental healthcare options to young adults and adolescents in a community-based setting. Mitali's goal is to continue integrating her passion for education with an awareness of the stigma around mental health.

 Dr. Apryl Shaw is a leader and partner who jumps in authentically head, heart, and hands ready, leveraging her passion for analytics and a human-centered approach to solve problems and generate solutions.  In her current role as Sr. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisor at SoCalGas, part of the Sempra family of companies; Dr. Apryl creates innovative DEI-related programming and experiences to garner retention and engagement that leads to creating an inclusive, speak-up culture that positively impacts individuals, the company, and our communities. Prior to this position, she served in several other roles in both corporate and non-profit spaces focused on employee and customer experience, conducting primary and secondary research studies, insights generation, strategic planning, process improvement, facilitation, marketing communication strategies, program development, culture audits, project, and change management.  Dr. Apryl holds a doctorate in Organization Development and a master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP), and a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Howard University.

T-Mobile, Vice President Engineering & Operations, Southern California Area.

Martha has been in the telecommunications field for 33 years. Her career in wireless spans 26 of those years. She has found the fast pace and dynamic environment of wireless exhilarating and has grown her career from Sr. Engineer to Vice President.  

She is part of T-Mobile’s Technology Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Alliance and serves as a member of the companies DE&I Leadership Advisors Committee. She is a member of the Women & Allies Network and part of the Women in Technology group, as well as the Multicultural Alliance and the Magenta LatinX Network. She currently mentors three women in Engineering who are looking to further their careers within Technology in T-Mobile. Outside of T-Mobile she is a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) since her college days and a member of UCLA’s Engineering School Alumni Advisory Council. She also volunteers to work with UCLA’s Women in Engineering program.  

Sanford is a Lecturer of Law at UCLA Law School, and both a Special Advisor to Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel. 

Sanford graduated from Newark Academy in New Jersey in 1983 and then enrolled at Cornell University at the age of 15, where he earned his Undergraduate Degree in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering and an MBA from the Johnson School of Management. He later attended the University of Virginia School of Law, where he earned a J.D. in 1996, and was a member of the Virginia Law Review. 

Sanford was elected to the Manassas City, Virginia School Board in 2010 and served as a member until 2021, and the Chair from 2018-2021. Mr. Williams is the first African-American Chairman of the Manassas City School Board. Sanford is also a member of the Board of Directors of Kids in the Spotlight, a Los Angeles County based organization that helps foster youth heal and grow from trauma through the power of storytelling and filmmaking, the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Education Foundation, the UVA Club of Los Angeles.

 Teela is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Published Author, Children Services Supervisor for LA County DCFS, Certified Yoga Instructor, Founder and CEO of Reign In US "Understanding Self"; a corporation dedicated to providing accessible Mental Health and Wellness Services to the community and throughout Corporate America in order to improve lives, help raise awareness and the collective consciousness. Having well over a decade of experience working in various advocacy capacities to help meet the needs of children, families and individuals alike, Teela integrates her knowledge in social work, trauma and grief recovery, gut health, neuropsychology, mind-body connection, yoga, spirituality, culture, personal/professional development, attachment, parenting, and relationships into a unique integrative, holistic approach that helps individuals thrive in all areas of life. Teela has made expert guest appearances on shows such as Family or Fiance as seen on OWN network and is the hostess of wellness retreats worldwide.  

  Monica is the Children’s and Social Services Deputy/Economic and Workforce Development Deputy for Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, advising on issues related to foster youth, education, social services, workforce development, economic development, community services, and aging. Prior to this position she worked as the communications and public affairs lead for the Center for Space Policy and Strategy at The Aerospace Corporation. At Aerospace, she worked for the Secretary of the Air Force on public presentations on special assignment and helped to create and coordinate the Center for Space Policy and Strategies’ programs for military, congressional, and administration audiences.
