Academy Award-winning actress Regina King continues to give back to her hometown of Los Angeles, especially its youth. Actress Regina King is giving back to her hometown of Los Angeles in a major way. King has partnered with Wells Fargo & Company to donate an additional $1 million to Kollab Youth with the hopes to inspire more youth of color when it comes to positive financial health.
Kollab Youth’s program serves to mentor underserved youth in Los Angeles and brings together public and private partnerships to introduce program participants to career prospects in growing industries, while working with them one-on-one to identify their personal skills and passions, according to an official press release.
King and Wells Fargo also donated $1 million to the organization back in September 2021.

PAYING IT FORWARD BUILDING COMMUNITY
Our very own Kollab Youth Program Director Sari Chaparro was interviewed by the Daily Company News organization.
Below is our recent interview with Adriana Chaparro, Program Manager at Kollab Youth:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Kollab Youth is a non-profit organization that was created for middle and high school students, ages 13 to 19 years old throughout LA County. We serve teens as north as Antelope Valley and as south as San Pedro.
Participants also have the option to receive high school credit for completing the program. Kollab Youth is also a registered pre-apprentice program with the State of California.
Our Kollab Youth workforce development program is 9 weeks, and each week provides STEAM focus in about 10+ career industries by top notch speakers. Aside from the essential, soft and technical skills learned, the youth will be provided with personal achievement training. After teens complete our program, Kollab Youth connects teens with jobs, internships, apprenticeships, scholarships, and other resources.

Kollab Youth Field Trip and Learning Event
On Saturday April 9, Kollab Youth held a day long event at the Grammy Museum. The youth were introduced to music professionals and did a tour of the facility. The youth learned about the many opportunities not just in the music business but other opportunities as well!
Hi I’m Marsha! I host the weekly Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast.
KOLLAB YOUTH WORKFORCE PROGRAM ON AIR
My guests representing the nonprofit, Kollab Youth Organization are Mary Hewitt, Executive Director, and Brian Barry, V.P. of the Kollab Advisory Board. Their Program: Kollab Youth ensures our Los Angeles County youth have the skills and knowledge they need to contribute to the global economy. Cultivating resourcefulness as a skill prepares young people for jobs that may not exist; in fact, the more resourceful they are, the more likely the next generation will be to create their own jobs and companies that will create jobs for others. Mentorship is a significant part of the personal and professional journey for our youth.
