Kollab Youth Rings In the Holidays with a Star-Studded Celebration!
"The air was crackling with excitement at Two Bit Circus as Kollab Youth hosted its annual Holiday Party on December 2. The who's who of the Los Angeles youth development community gathered to celebrate the impact of the Kollab Youth program and to recognize the standout supporters who make it all possible.
Kollab Youth, a groundbreaking 501(c)3 public charity and CA DAS Registered Pre-Apprenticeship Program, serves over 500 teens each year through its innovative cohorts, immersive field trips, community events, and outreach initiatives. The nonprofit's cutting-edge approach to workforce development is transforming the lives of young people across LA, and the Holiday Party was a chance to give a well-deserved shout-out to the champions who make it happen.
CEO, Mary Hewitt states, “At Kollab, we are laser-focused on lifting up the next generation of LA leaders. No matter where our students come from, we believe they have the potential to rise above and build fulfilling, meaningful careers. The rapid growth of our program is a testament to the power of community, and we're honored to have so many amazing partners and supporters who share our vision. Together, we're creating a brighter, more prosperous future for our city."
In the spirit of celebration, the organization recognized those who went above-and-beyond– presenting awards for five categories. Teresa Samaniego o ABC7 was given the title “Youth Champion of the Year.” Wells Fargo, a steadfast supporter of Kollab, was named “Presenter of the Year.” Andreas Frishutt of Cisco was presented with the award of “Mentor of the Year.” The “Youth of the Year” award was given to Fernanda Pereyra. Daniel Dudley and Kelvin Washington were both presented with "Youth Champions" awards.
Just completing their first year of 501(c)3 status, the workforce development program is making waves throughout the local, regional, and national stage. Investing in the future of the workforce by equipping under resourced youth with these opportunities is a strategy that has layered and generational impact.

MENTORS, YOUTH, SPONSORS AND MORE!
Our very own Kollab Youth Program Director Sari Chaparro was interviewed by the Daily Company News organization.
Below is our recent interview with Adriana Chaparro, Program Manager at Kollab Youth:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Kollab Youth is a non-profit organization that was created for middle and high school students, ages 13 to 19 years old throughout LA County. We serve teens as north as Antelope Valley and as south as San Pedro.
Participants also have the option to receive high school credit for completing the program. Kollab Youth is also a registered pre-apprentice program with the State of California.
Our Kollab Youth workforce development program is 9 weeks, and each week provides STEAM focus in about 10+ career industries by top notch speakers. Aside from the essential, soft and technical skills learned, the youth will be provided with personal achievement training. After teens complete our program, Kollab Youth connects teens with jobs, internships, apprenticeships, scholarships, and other resources.

KOLLAB YOUTH WORKFORCE PROGRAM ON AIR
My guests representing the nonprofit, Kollab Youth Organization are Mary Hewitt, Executive Director, and Brian Barry, V.P. of the Kollab Advisory Board. Their Program: Kollab Youth ensures our Los Angeles County youth have the skills and knowledge they need to contribute to the global economy. Cultivating resourcefulness as a skill prepares young people for jobs that may not exist; in fact, the more resourceful they are, the more likely the next generation will be to create their own jobs and companies that will create jobs for others. Mentorship is a significant part of the personal and professional journey for our youth.
